Dr. Milliner was born and raised in Lakeville, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Tucson, AZ on a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona and simultaneously received her commission as an officer into the United States Navy.
After graduation, Dr. Milliner moved to San Francisco, CA to attend the University of the Pacific Dental School. Upon completion, she began her first tour with the Navy at Naval Station Great Lakes in Chicago, IL. Here she finished a residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD).
In 2005, Dr. Milliner left Chicago to be stationed aboard the USS Boxer (LHD-4) at 32nd street Naval Station, San Diego, CA. During her time aboard the ship, she made 2 deployments that took her to multiple countries including Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, the Marshall Islands, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
It was during this tour that she also met her husband, Jonathan, who was and still is, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Health Care Administrator. They married in 2007 and reside in coastal Oceanside. In addition to her time with the USS Boxer, Dr. Milliner also completed a tour at the dental clinic on Coronado, CA at the Naval Amphibious Base. Ultimately, her time in the Navy was completed as the clinic director for the Submarine Base in Point Loma, CA.
After leaving active duty, she worked in private practice before returning to Orthodontics residency at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA. After an intensive 27-month program, she was awarded her Master of Science degree and specialty certification in orthodontics.
An esteemed member of the dental community, Dr. Milliner has achieved many honors, including commendation medals in the U.S. Navy and membership in the Tau Kappa Omega dental honor society. She is considered board-eligible by the American Board of Orthodontics and is also an active member in many leading dental and orthodontic organizations.
In her spare time, Dr. Milliner enjoys outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, skiing, traveling and stand up paddle boarding, with Jonathan and their dog, Doogan. In addition, volunteering and giving back are very important to Dr. Milliner. She has participated in humanitarian dental mission trips to Malaysia, the Marshall Islands, Jamaica, Mexico and she remains active with Thousand Smiles, an organization that takes trips to Ensenada four times a year to help children born with cleft lips and palates.
